New Zealand’s Green List opens ‘Straight to Residency Pathways’ for more Occupations

Apr 12, 2023

A huge announcement yesterday reflects the New Zealand government’s ongoing efforts to make it easy for skilled professionals to live and work in our beautiful, progressive country.

As you may know, Immigration New Zealand created the Green List last year to fast-track residency pathways for skilled professionals. It consists of two occupation tiers as follows:

  • Tier 1 occupations who qualify, are granted immediate New Zealand residency via the ‘Straight to Residence’ pathway.
  • Tier 2 occupations who qualify, can gain residency after working for two years – this is what’s known as the ‘Work to Residence’ pathway.

Exciting changes to the green list for health occupations

Yesterday it was announced that a further 32 Healthcare roles will be added to the Green List ‘Straight to Residence’ pathway.

AND

All health roles currently on the ‘Work to Residence’ pathway will be moved to the ‘Straight to Residence’ pathway!

This is incredible news for Health Professionals considering work-life balance in New Zealand and adds to the recent news of a 14% increase in pay for Nurses.
