Healthcare Workers Continue to be in Big Demand Across New Zealand

Jun 17, 2018

For a nation as beautiful, developed and forward-thinking as New Zealand, it’s hard to imagine that the country is currently undergoing something of a healthcare staff shortage, but the numbers don’t lie. With a steadily growing population the need for qualified, experienced healthcare workers remains keenly felt.

Beautiful New Zealand for healthcare workers

In fact, New Zealand Immigration reckons that the country will need almost 400 new specialists each year to keep pace with the OECD average by 2021, as well as 25,000 more nurses by 2030. Such numbers can’t be met by Kiwis alone, so our healthcare firms are looking further afield to plug gaps in their workforce. In fact, there are almost 40 healthcare occupations currently sitting on the Skills Shortage List (SSL), making it that little bit easier for qualified migrants to make the move.

That’s right – if your area of expertise appears on the SSL, the path to a work visa and, eventually, permanent residency is a whole lot smoother. You’ll find it easier to land a job and acquire a visa before you’ve even left your home country, making booking the flights the only thing left to do. What’s more, as a migrant healthcare worker, you’ll be in excellent company – almost half of the medical professionals were born outside New Zealand!

At Working In, we can make your journey to NZ even easier.  We’ve formed partnerships with a number of reputable healthcare firms across New Zealand, giving you access to the hottest jobs first. You can apply for a plum role directly from the website – take a look at our jobs board to see what we have on offer.

New Zealand is a nation getting health-savvy – do you want to be part of it?
