ANAESTHETIC TECHNICIANS

The Role

You will be responsible for the assessment of care needs and ensuring that high quality standards of patient care is given through evidence-based practice. The post holder will also assist in practice development and will be required to teach, support, develop and assess junior staff. You will also be able to take charge in the absence of senior staff.

Also on offer is a monthly education forum alongside anaesthetic colleagues and downtime for CPD activities.

REGISTERED NURSES – PERIOPERATIVE SERVICE

DOSA/Pre-assessment

DOSA is a Mon-Fri department that has roster shifts between 0645 and 2100.  The ability to assess all elective and acute patients’ pre- and post-operatively is required. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure that the patient journey is a safe and positive experience.

  • Post Graduate Health Assessment is preferred
  • Ability to clearly articulate surgical instructions to patients and family

PACU

PACU has a rotational roster that covers a 24/7 service.  Advanced life support skills are required for all nursing staff in this area and nursing staff are encouraged to complete a post-graduate Critical Care Course. 

Operating Theatre (Scrub Side)
Hours of work will be 40 per week, working rostered duties with overtime and on-call as required by the needs of the department. At least 2 years Operating Theatre (Scrub side) experience is required.

MIDWIVES

The Women’s Health Unit

The Women’s Health Unit has an 8 bedded delivery suite and a 22 bedded ante/postnatal ward. There are approximately 2000 births per year in the region.

As a progressive unit, they have been working on developing specialist roles such as Diabetes Midwife, Perinatal Midwife and Maternity Clinical Information Systems (MCIS) Midwife. They also have 24/7 Charge Midwife/ACM leadership and other midwifery leadership opportunities.

They are the only maternity unit in the country to introduce a new Induction of Labour Protocol which has dramatically reduced their caesarean section rates for women experiencing induction of labour. Their midwives work in partnership with women and their families/whanau, collaborating with the multi-disciplinary team to deliver effective care.

Hours of work will be up to full time working rostered and rotating shifts.

DOSA/Pre-assessment

DOSA is a Mon-Fri department that has roster shifts between 0645 and 2100.  The ability to assess all elective and acute patients’ pre- and post-operatively is required. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure that the patient journey is a safe and positive experience.

  • Post Graduate Health Assessment is preferred
  • Ability to clearly articulate surgical instructions to patients and family

PACU

PACU has a rotational roster that covers a 24/7 service.  Advanced life support skills are required for all nursing staff in this area and nursing staff are encouraged to complete a post-graduate Critical Care Course. 

Operating Theatre (Scrub Side)
Hours of work will be 40 per week, working rostered duties with overtime and on-call as required by the needs of the department. At least 2 years Operating Theatre (Scrub side) experience is required.
