REGISTERED NURSES – PERIOPERATIVE

Hours of work will be 40 per week, working rostered duties with overtime and on-call as required by the needs of the department.

DOSA/Pre-assessment

This is a Monday to Friday department that has roster shifts covering between 0645 and 2100.  Nursing staff require assessments skill to enable them to assess all elective and acute patients’ pre and post operatively.   All staff work very closely with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that the patient journey is a safe and positive experience.

  • Post Graduate Health Assessment is encouraged and required.
  • Ability to clearly articulate surgical instructions to patients and family
  • Full orientation to all areas of the Peri-operative Service is given

PACU

PACU has a rotational roster that covers a 24/7 service.  This area is where patients are recovering from their anaesthetic following surgery and before transfer to ward or discharge.  Advanced life support skills are required for all nursing staff in this area and we encourage nursing staff to complete post graduate Critical Care Course. 

Operating Theatre (Scrub Side)

  • At least 2 years Operating Theatre (Scrub side) experience would be preferred.
  • Staff will be well supported through an orientation

 CLINICAL CARDIAC PHYSIOLOGISTS

Multiple opportunities exist for qualified Cardiac Physiologists as part of the development of a Cardiology Service in a hospital setting in the North Island of New Zealand. This includes participation in the establishment of an interventional cardiology service and a dedicated cardiac catheterisation facility.

The Clinical Cardiac Physiologist role consists of a service to outpatients and inpatients by assisting in the provision of specialist cardiac investigations including:

  • Cardiac Angiography
  • Left and right heart studies
  • Pacemaker follow-up and implantation
  • Exercise testing
  • Holter tape/event monitoring
  • Sesta Mibi
  • Echocardiography and PCI when the dedicated catheterisation lab is established.

You will have the relevant clinical cardiac physiology work experience and hold the ASCT or CCP & MTEX qualification or equivalent.

Experience in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), and/or pacemaker implantation is desirable and would be advantageous, however, training would be provided as part of the development of the interventional service.

A minimum of two years’ experience is required.
